Excerpt from Cumorah's Southern Messenger, Vol. 13: March, 1939Nine out of every ten people claiming to be educated and living outside the United States still believe Utah to be a kind of Mohammedan Paradise, where a man is the adored idol of anything from two to twenty wives. Far from this being the case Utah can legitimately boast of being the bulwark of one man one wife. Plural marriage was abolished fifty years ago, and marriage being regarded as a Sacrament and requiring the Divine blessing in Church there are fewer divorces on a population basis in Utah than in any other American State. In a previous article I mentioned my first encounter with a Latter-day Saint while travelling through the Sage Brush country in Western Utah to Cedar' City, but could not reproduce in that letter all she told me with such quiet earnestness of Mormon tenets.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
